Following a recent tender exercise, we’re delighted that Consort has been chosen by the Canadian Association of Research Administrators (CARA) to support further development of its routine operating procedures and governance policies.

CARA is the national voice of research administrators in Canada. With over 1,000 members, the Association’s core strength lies in its diversity and comprehensive approach to supporting professional research administration, providing invaluable networking and professional development opportunities, and working as a critical interface between all stakeholders in the management of the research enterprise.

Following a strategic review of CARA’s activities and objectives in December 2015, the Executive Board has implemented a new 3-year Strategic Plan (2016-19). This is an ambitious statement of intent and reflects the membership’s ambition for their professional association. For the Plan to success, CARA’s annual activity cycle must be underpinned by robust governance and operating practices, and we’re delighted to have been commissioned to help CARA define these critical policies and procedures.

Drawing on our extensive experience of leading professional membership bodies, we will work closely with the Executive Director and members of the Board to develop a suite of policies and plans that range from marketing & communications and stakeholder engagement to risk management and income generation via commercial sponsorship.  We’ll complete the project in early 2017.
